1st Grade

Gabriel Orozco Samurai Tree impressions. In this art unit, students study the color wheel (primary, secondary, tertiary) and contiguous/opposite color schemes. We learn about contemporary artist Gabriel Orozco and his Samurai Tree series. Students create a picture based on the Samurai Tree and give it a creative name. Students are practicing their digital drawing skills while they study art. Note: some students used invented spelling when they couldn't spell a word.

2nd Grade

Students studied habitats and animals. They learned KidPix drawing and painting techniques such as drawing a horizon line and blending textures and fills to create organic shapes. They wrote paragraphs about the animal and habitat in their slides. Shows may be paused if neccessary to finish reading a slide.

3rd Grade

Roy Lichtenstein Kid Pix Recreations: Students studied Roy Lichtenstein and wrote about his art. Then, after technique instruction and given a choice of four of his pictures, students created their own using Kid Pix drawing tools.
