Mrs. Harrington

 

Mrs. Harrington has been teaching Third Grade at Rancho Romero since 2003.  She holds a B.S. in Psychology from San Diego State and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from the University of Phoenix.

Mrs. Harrington has been married since 2005.  Her husband, Dan, is also a teacher and owns his own tutoring business here in Alamo.  They have a daughter, Hanna Grace, who was born in August of 2007. In her free time Mrs. Harrington enjoys gardening, reading, playing with her dog "Elvis", and traveling.

Traffic Safety at Rancho:

Drop Off: You may not ever drive up the center of Hemme in the mornings. Procedure is to wait in the pick-up line whether or not you are parking or doing curbside drop-off. Tickets will be given anytime the Sherriff observes breaches to that behavior. 

*THERE IS TO BE NO DOUBLE LANE OF TRAFFIC ON HEMME AT ANY TIME*

Biking: At the trail, children dismount from bikes and walk them to school. No exceptions.Children falling off bikes into the street land in front of moving cars. They must walk the bike!

Parking; Parking at any curb on school grounds in the morning is not allowed. Parking in the staff parking is not allowed. Watch for blocking driveways while parking in the neighborhood. Use gravel walkway,not street, for walking.

PLEASE STAY OFF YOUR CELLPHONES WHEN DRIVING ON CAMPUS!!!

 

 

 

 

 Things to Know:

  • P.E. Days: Tuesday and Friday- Please be sure your child wears the proper shoes!
  • Lunch: Everyday at 12:30...If your child forgets his/her lunch, please leave it in the office...DO NOT bring it to class. Thank you!
  • Water: We highly encourage the students to keep water bottles with them to stay hydrated! Especially on P.E. Days!
  • Snacks: We have 2 recesses...10:45 and 2:00...Please be sure your child has a HEALTHY and FILLING Snack! The children are STARVING by 10:45!
  • GROW: Is a part of our Social Studies Program. This assignment requires an atlas and/or map to complete. Each child has been given their own atlas to take home and use for this assignment. If they loose it, you will be responsible for purchasing a new one for the classroom. This assignment always goes home on Monday and is due back on Friday. They may turn it in anytime during the week if they finish it early. 
  • Field Trips: We have a number of great Field Trips in Third Grade. I have listed all the scheduled trips here so you may mark your calendars. 
  • Forest Home Farms
  • One Room Schoolhouse
  • Alamo Cemetery
  • Oregon Trail

Curriculum:

 

  • Math:We are working on Chapter 1....Place Value (ones to the hundred thousands)
  • Reading: We are reading Flat Stanley. 
  • Science: We are learning about mass and volume.
  • Social Studies: We are learning about California's regions.
  • Technology: We are learning how to use the alphasmarts.
  • Writing: We are building our writer's journals.
  • Cursive:  We have learned the alphabet...now we practice in our cursive books twice a week. Chase, Brett, Chloe,Katie, Carly,Leyla,Payton, Juliette, Scott, Mason and Finley have received their Cursive Licenses! Good Job everyone!
  • Music: We are learning songs on friendship and recycling! We have also started singing our Pioneer Songs!
  • Art: We have art every other week on Thursdays from 8:30-9:30.
