The art classes provide students in grades K-5 the opportunity to investigate aesthetics in fine art, learn about art history and cultural arts, create two- and three-dimensional projects and have group discussion and informal critiques. Each grade level has its own set of lessons which are based on the California standards for the visual arts.
Lessons throughout the year incorporate a variety of materials including chalk pastels, paint, collage, papier mache, print making, fabric, oil pastels, charcoal and clay. Students meet with the art teacher once a month on an average of 60 minutes per class. One project from each class is kept and matted for the end of the year art show in the Multi-Use Room.
