PLEASE HAVE YOUR STUDENT WEAR APPROPRIATE ATHLETIC TENNIS SHOES FOR P.E.

 Upcoming Kindergarten PE Units Minimize

PE Wed. Sept. 2nd "TOSS & CATCH" - Wednesday, September 02, 2009

We will run 1 lap, stretch, and start our "Toss & Catch" lesson.  The students will toss with their "homework/pencil hand" and catch with 2 hands.  They will use their eyes to track the item they are catching. 

 
NICE WEATHER/ NO SANDALS - Wednesday, August 26, 2009

Make sure your students wear athletic tennis shoes with socks to PE.   Please also, take a few minutes every week to show your children how to "take off" their shoes and "put on" their shoes.  Including the "ART" of shoe tying!    Thanks, Mrs. Heins

Susan Heins – Para professional for P.E.
 
Mrs. Heins has been assisting with P.E. classes in the district for 9 years now, with this being her 5th year at Rancho.  Three years ago she was reunited with Ms. BJ whom she worked with at Bollinger.  At Rancho, Mrs. Heins does Kindergarten P.E. classes once per week for 30 minutes, assists with 1st-3rd grade classes and organizes the lunchtime intramural sports program (Monday-Thursday).
 
Mrs. Heins is married (23 years to Charlie) and has two daughters ages 17 and 13 who are both very active in competitive soccer and basketball.  She has spent many years coaching her daughters and loves being involved in youth sports and activities.  Mrs. Heins is also active herself, competing in adult softball and indoor soccer leagues.  When she is not busy driving her girls to practices, games or play dates, she can be found…being a room parent, hiking, scrapbooking or any type of craft, spending time with her family and friends, or just hanging out.
 
We are truly lucky to have Mrs. Heins here at Rancho.  She is a wealth of knowledge and has a contagious enthusiasm for having lots of fun!!!

INTRO TO KINDERGARTEN PE

These are the things we worked on:

-Personal space while stretching

-Learned.......   Apples, Oranges & Bananas

-3 new stretches.......  Calf, Hamstring and Arm Cross

-Jogged 1 lap around Rancho's track  (2 by Feb/Mar)

-Find pulse using 2 fingers.........   on side of neck under chin

-Reviewed good listening skills

-Toss and Catch ........ one hand toss, two hand catch to self with bean bag

-3 new stretches........ Flamigo, Tricep Pull Down, and Butterfly

-Ball Skills......bounce/dribble with two hands, bounce and catch to self
