 Reading Program Minimize

The reading intervention program at Rancho Romero is the longest lived parent funded program in the district. It provides supplemental early reading instruction to students as they acquire the essential knowledge and skills necessary for their grade level.

The instruction is multi-sensory and sequential using the Orton-Gillingham method that is language based with direct teaching of phonic and decoding skills. Leveled books are used to reinforce these skills as well as to develop comprehension, vocabulary and study strategies. Students enter and exit the program throughout the year based on assessment and response to intervention.
